Jim Wright’s work is an emotional response to his experiences in the more remote
areas of the moors, mountains and coastline of Northern Britain.
The use of various media bring exciting contrasts to his work; the oils, acrylics, and
mixed media are often used in pieces, inspired by the raw energy of the sea and
the moors, whereas the pastels are his preferred choice to capture a soft diffusing
light, creating a more moody atmosphere.Jim draws on many sources, he loves
being out on the moors in all conditions, feeling the powerful forces of nature is
particularly exhilarating and important in his work. As a throw back to his youth in
Western Australia, he has never lost his enthusiasm for surfing and whilst
opportunities are few and far between, his passion for the sea can be keenly felt in
his work. Music has always been an integral part of his life, he spends much of his
leisure time creating and performing music, whilst listening to music is essential for
the progression of his work.
Jim Wright was born in born in Scotland, the first part of his childhood was spent in
Bannockburn near Stirling, his family then moved to Perth, Western Australia
